After care instructions

There is very minimal basic after care.

  • No touching the treated area
  • Avoid showering because you don’t want the water hitting the treated area
  • No shaving the treated area for at least 10 days
  • Avoid activities that cause you to sweat a lot
  • Stay out of direct sunlight
  • No swimming because you don’t want the area soaked with water
  • Avoid hot tubs, steam rooms, and saunas because they cause you to sweat
  • You must also refrain from using moisturizers or shampoo on the treated area.
  • The overall goal is to keep it clean and dry.

What to expect after your treatment?

Most clients tend to have little or no problems following treatment. There is the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery states that some redness and slight swelling may occur. Read here for more information. This should go away within a couple of days.

If the area becomes more swollen, red, and painful, this could indicate an infection or some kind. Infections can also cause you to have a fever. If you have any of these symptoms, call your practitioner immediately.

Pre-care Instructions

  • You can exfoliate 7 days prior and again 48 hours before treatment
  • Moisturize 2-3x daily
  • Drink 64oz of water daily

Day of treatment

  • Moisturize your scalp
  • You can bring a snack and drink as the sessions will take about 3 hours on average.

Standard SMP Aftercare Instructions

Day 1-4 After your treatment session avoid:

  • No touching, showering, or shaving the treated area
  • No carrying out any activities that may cause excessive sweating e.g. gym and exercise (5-7days)
  • No moisturizer or shampoo
  • No direct sunlight (sun is ok, long periods of exposure are not)
  • No swimming, sauna, or the steam room (14 days)
  • No razor shaving for at least 10 days
  • No hats for 72 hours

Day 4 After your treatment resume:

  • Wash your head with cold water and gentle (Paraben and sulfate free) soap.
  • Apply moisturizer twice daily to prevent dryness and flaky skin. We recommend using a non-perfumed moisturizer.
  • If skin is dry exfoliate the skin.
  • Avoid growing hair too long. If you do need to shave your head, we advise using an electric shaver only. We recommend a Remington R5 (check here on Amazon) or similar shaver.

Signs and symptoms of infection:

SWELLING: A slight amount of swelling is typical for a fresh tattoo. If swelling becomes excessive ,uncomfortable and you feel the pain radiating beyond the site of the tattoo, then this is a sign of infection.

FEVER: Fever is a symptom of an underlying condition, which is most often an infection. Please contact a medical provider if you think you may have a possible infection.
